Birzeit University Delegation visits Britain, discusses prospects for raising quality of teaching in Palestine

A delegation from the Faculty of Education at Birzeit University visited Canterbury Christ Church University in Kent, UK from February 5-February 10, 2017. The visiting delegation included professors Hasan Abdel Kareem, Anwar Abdel Razeq, Mousa Khaldi and Mahmoud Abu Shama.

The study visit to Canterbury University included discussions and workshops for curriculum development on a teacher education degree-level program and capacity building for Higher Education pedagogy. The study visit included activities related to the development of degree programs and capacity building.

The Birzeit delegation met with Professor David Shepherd (Deputy Chancellor), John Moss (Dean of the Faculty of Education), and senior members of the Faculty of Education at Canterbury University.

The delegation also observed university sessions in teacher education and had discussions with student teachers and university lecturers. The professors had the opportunity to visit local schools and hold discussions with school principals and teachers. Workshops on curriculum development, approaches to Inclusive Education and teaching at the higher education level were also some of the sessions that the delegation participated in.

This study visit is one of several study visits that will be held to Canterbury University in the UK, Fontys University in the Nethelands, and the University of Eastern Finland.
