Birzeit University bolsters international connections in 2020-2021 virtual orientation session

Students, professors, and administrators from more than 30 universities in Europe and the Middle East joined Birzeit University’s virtual orientation session, held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

The session included presentations by professors and administrators who gave a brief overview of Birzeit University and highlighted the various programs that it offers, which lead to master’s, bachelor’s, and Ph.D. degrees, as well as the research and community-engagement efforts led by its 11 institutes and centers.

In his presentation, Dr. Amir Khalil, the external academic relations officer, reviewed the academic programs offered for international students at Birzeit University, explaining the registration and admission procedure and credit transfer process.

Dr. Tagreed Abed introduced the goals and structure of the Palestine and Arabic Studies Program, which is specifically designed with international students in mind. The program, Abed explained, offers courses in Modern Standard Arabic and Colloquial Arabic that present a unique perspective on the culture, social values, and political realities in Palestine.

Khalil, stressing the importance of maintaining and extending connections with regional and international universities, noted that Birzeit University has cooperation agreements with over 60 European educational institutions as part of the Erasmus+ program, which allows students to participate in lectures and seminars, professors to engage in groundbreaking research projects, and staff members to join training sessions and workshops in some of the world’s finest and most well-regarded universities.
