Birzeit University awards diploma degrees to legalists and public sector participants

Birzeit University Center for Continuing Education and the Institute of Law celebrated on April 26, 2017 the graduation of 150 participants in the professional diplomas specialized in Legislative Drafting, Legal Skills, Managerial Skills, and in Organizational Development.  The diplomas are part of the “Strengthening the Rule of Law in the oPt: Justice and Security for the Palestinian People” conducted with the UNDP.

The graduation ceremony occurred in the presence of the Vice President of Academic Affairs Henry Giacaman, the Minister of Justice Ali Abu Diak, and the UNDP Deputy Special Representative of Operations Khaled Shahwan.

Giacman said that these professional diplomas provide participants from the public sector to expand their knowledge in administrative and legal practical skills in adherence with the needs of their careers. “Our goal is to equip our participants with the hands-on skills necessary to support their careers.”

Abu Diak expressed his pride in the long- standing relationship between the public sector and Birzeit University, which aims to contribute in the sustainable development process, and support the public sector in their efforts to improve their careers within the scheme of transparency and better management of human resources.

Shahwan these tailor-made professional diplomas create a forum for participants to enhance their competencies within the legal and legislative drafting sector. He emphasized on the importance of developing such diplomas that serves the public sector.

The Manager of the Institute of Law’s Legislative Support Department Mahmoud Alawneh talked about the diplomas that the institute offers including the Diploma Program in Legislative Drafting, Specialized Professional Diploma Program in Legal Skills, and Specialized Professional Diploma Program in Legal Skills -Enhancement of the Ministry of Interior Staff.  

 In turn, the head of the professional diplomas sector at the Center of Continuing Education Rania Qasim introduced the professional diploma conducted with the UNDP and TIMS organization in the Diploma in Managerial Skills and Organizational Development.
