Birzeit University announces International Staff Week, forthcoming in April

Birzeit University is preparing for its forthcoming International Staff Training Week that will take place this year in its second edition. The week constitutes a training program that aims at peers from partner institutions and other foreign universities under the framework of the Erasmus+ program.

Organized by the Office of External Academic Relations, the International Staff Week will take place on Birzeit University’s campus from April 6–10, 2020, and will be open to all university faculty and staff members who wish to participate.

The week’s program features a networking event, a lecture series, discussion sessions, and interactive assemblies and activities that aim to promote the idea of internationalization. They intend to strengthen international partnership through networking with participants of various international backgrounds, as many universities will participate in this event.

Each day of this week will focus on a specific theme such as the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility program, capacity building for higher education, student and staff experiences in the mobility program, and further ways of fostering cooperation between Birzeit University and international institutions. The overall aim is to enable the provision of a better quality of education.

Last year, the university concluded its first International Staff Week on March, 2019, having hosted academics and representatives of universities from around the world in a series of events and workshops. The participating universities included Middlesex University, UK; Università Telematica Pegaso (Pegaso Telematic University), Italy; the University of Bergen, Norway; the University of Eastern Finland, Finland; the University of Gothenburg, Sweden; and Philipps-Universität Marburg (Philips University Marburg) and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg), both in Germany.
