Birzeit University and INNOMED-UP launch video on new intelligent management system for recycling wastes

The INNOMED – UP and Birzeit University research team launched an experimental video on a new intelligent management system for recycling wastes through smart bins.

The smart bins are designed for private areas. They collect the materials needed for local CCI SMEs, enabling them to operate recycling processes.

Distributed in multiple locations in Hebron and Nablus, the bins collect needed materials for local CCI SMEs pilot activities. Then, a smart bike distributes the filled bins to the requested location to process the production of new recycled products. The smart bins have wireless ultrasonic fill-level sensors embedded inside to detect its location. Through an IoT system, the data is sent to a cloud-based monitoring and analytics platform.

The INNOMED-UP is funded by the European Union under the ENI CBC MED program to support cooperation projects for a more competitive, innovative, inclusive and sustainable Mediterranean area.
