Birzeit Teams Take Top Honors in National Design Competition

Birzeit University's engineering students were awarded two prizes in the first National Bridge Competition held recently at An Najah National University and organized by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Architectural Engineering students Jihad Salim, Muhammad Husseini, Saoud Abu Saa' and Abdellatif Mahmoud from the Civil Engineering Department were recognized in first place for the Best Architectural Design, while Qusai Abu Rahma, Muhammad Hatem, Samer Ishaq, Amir Salameh and Muhammad Samar from the Civil Engineering Department had the highest number of project evaluation points.

The competition challenged students to explore a variety of design issues related to the use of wood in designing and constructing bridges. Participating teams designed 3D bridges matching the competition standards with regard to dimensions and materials.
