Birzeit Launches New Master's Degree in Law and Economics

Birzeit University announced a new Master Program in Law and Economics that will be offered beginning in the current academic year 2016/2017. The new program is approved by the National Commission for Assessment and Academic Accreditation at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

The new discipline, will be an exclusive program in Palestine and the Arab region. It stands at the intersection of law and economics to enable lawyers and economists to have an impact on a wide range of issues related to law, business and finance, and responds to the needs of the public and private sector in the making of legislative and economic policies.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law and Public Administration Yaser Al Amouri emphasized on the faculty's mission to prepare students to meet the evolving job market demands. " We seek to develop students' academic capacities and practical skills. We believe that an advanced education has become a key enabler in reaching higher-level positions in the academia sector in Palestine and the region."

Director of the Master Program of Law Mahmoud Dodeen explained the mission and vision of newly- launched program. "We are dedicated to preparing our students for a successful career, providing a distinguished education in a blended specialization that merge law with economics. This discipline is responsive to the needs of social and economic development, enriches the rule of law, and improves our graduates capacities in research and academy."

"We look forward to prepare our students to be able to contribute in the policy making process  based on concrete academic basis."

The program targets graduates from Law programs, Economic and Financial Sciences. In addition to those who work in the economic, financial, legal and judicial sectors.
