Birzeit Administration, Brazilian Delegation Discuss Using Renewable Energy on Campus

Birzeit University President Khalil Hindi and a visiting Brazilian delegation of academics discussed how the campus might use renewable energy and natural energy sources to run its various university facilities.
The group visited the campus on April 22, 2013, also discussing with university officials the inclusion of renewable energy sources in the academic curricula. Among the ideas posed was the possibility of building a research and development center specialized in renewable energy, and the establishment of an optical systems network based on natural energy sources.
President Hindi received the visiting delegation, which was accompanied by the Ambassador of Brazil in Palestine H.E. Paulo Roberto Franca, alongside Vice President for Academic Affairs Adnan Yahya, director of the engineering office Bishara Abu Ghannam and professor of electrical engineering, Mohammed Abu Khaizaran.
During the meeting, Hindi briefed the guests on the university’s history, admission requirements and latest developments related to academic infrastructure and scientific research.
The delegation applauded the university’s academic standards and called for deepening academic cooperation between Palestinian and Brazilian universities.
