American researchers to open new frontiers of cooperation with Birzeit

A United States delegation of scholars and academics at the Palestinian American Research Center (PARC) visited Birzeit University recently. The delegation met with the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mirvat Bulbul, the Officer of the External Academic Relations Amir Khalil, a number of academics and students.

Both parties looked into cooperation in the fields of academic researches, as well as faculty and staff exchange.

The visit is intended for participants to learn about Palestine and the region, deepen their knowledge of their particular fields of interest as they relate to Palestine, and build relationships with Palestinian academics.

During their meeting with Bulbul and Khalil, the delegation was introduced to the university’s history, mission and academic programs. The both asserted the university’s commitment to establish networks with academic and scholar institutions to open new frontiers for academic and research cooperation.

The Director of the Palestine and Arabic Studies (PAS) Hanada Kharma told the delegation about  program that focuses on teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. 

Members at the Right to Education campaign pointed out that  systematic violations that Israeli occupation practices against education including the restrictions of movement, the continuous arrest for students and academics, the lack of research resources and educational materials, the localization of knowledge and the illegal settlements expansion.

Faculty members and students met with the delegation and presented their insights on the Palestinian social, economic and political realities and challenges.
