Alumni Flock To Career Week on Campus

 Birzeit University Career Week got under way on May 8, 2016, featuring new career zones and internship opportunities. Organized by Career Services Office and with an exclusive support by Palestine Telecommunications Company, PALTEL Company, Career Week is open to university alumni for three subsequent days.Career Week was kicked off by university president Abdel Latif Abu Hijleh who said that there were more than 50 companies represented to explore hundreds of our graduates’ talents and skills.“Our alumni are our own ambassadors in the community,” he said. “Such events intend to maximize career potential and opportunities for our graduates through powerful networks, meaningful exploration and transformative experiences.”“Our responsibility does not stop when they graduate,” Abu Hijleh stated. “With the developing economy and instability in Palestine, we understand the importance of connections and preparation to meet the changing times. That is why we are dedicated to assisting our students in advancing their chosen career path.”Business and economics faculty dean Grace Khoury said that this career week offers numerous career advancement opportunities for students within their fields of study. She told students and alumni that such events are an excellent opportunity to develop their confidence in speaking to recruiters, sharing their interests and demonstrating their skills while identifying new opportunities in the labor market.“This event is where education meets opportunity -- all under one roof,” Khoury said. “This is an outstanding chance for you to pursue your career ambition.”General Manager of PALTEL Maen Melhem emphasized the importance of creating employment opportunities for Palestinian youth. “To tackle youth employment challenges, PALTEL Company puts in place a range of initiatives and programs. We are also keen to invest in the younger generations as they are the key engine of our growth in PALTEL and a key to build a vibrant economy in Palestine.”
