2014 Palestinian Right to Education U.S. Tour

Ten Palestinian students from Birzeit University in the West Bank arrived in the US Friday night for the first ever Palestinian Right to Education US Tour. Their orientation was in St. Louis, where they met with local members of the St. Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee as well as with youth activists from Ferguson and other parts of the city. The highlight for most of the students was attending a demonstration and vigil for Vonderrit Myers, Jr., an 18 year old who was shot six times in the back and killed by St. Louis police one month ago. The students spoke with Vonderrit’s family and activists who have been out in the streets fighting for justice. Both the Palestinian students and St. Louis residents were happy to be connected across borders. The students start speaking at US college campuses today.
