Muhammad Abu-Khaizaran
Muhammad Abu-Khaizaran received B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering Department from Birzeit University, Palestine, in 1996, M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees in Power Electronics from the Engineering Department, University of Cambridge, UK, in 1999 and 2003, respectively.
In 1996, he joined Tubas Municipality, Palestine, as an Electrical Engineer until resuming his graduate studies in 1998. From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a Part Time Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. Since 2003, he joined the Electrical Engineering Department, Birzeit University, as an Assistant Professor. In Sep. 2017, he was promoted to be an Associate Professor. During his career, he was a supervisor and examiner for many graduation projects and MSc Theses. He served as the Chairman of the Electrical Engineering Department from Sept. 2008 to Aug. 2011. He was a local coordinator for JMEE, a Tempus funded project, from Dec. 2013 – Dec. 2017. He was the Director of the Master Programme in Electrical Engineering from Sep. 2016 to Aug. 2018. Recently, he is awarded Arab Fund Fellowship Programme Scholarship to conduct research at the University of Cambridge during the Academic year 2018/2019.
He has published many papers in Renewable Energy, Series Connection of IGBTs and their Gate Drives, and Power Inverters. He was awarded Cambridge Overseas Trust Scholarship for studying MPhil and PhD degrees. He was a visiting scholar at Cambridge University during summer 2004. Besides, he was awarded Erasmus Mudus Avempace-II scholarship to conduct research at Sapienza University-Italy in Summer 2013, and DAAD scholarship to conduct research at Technical University of Dresden-Germany in Summer 2015. He is a member of IEEE and the Palestinian Engineering Association.
