This course is a survey introduction to the classical music of western culture, including music from the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque, Classical, Romantic and 20th century eras, featuring the study of selected masterworks in relation to the periods which they represent. Emphasis is placed on developing awareness of musical style and structure through lectures and directed listening.
