GADS6382 | Special Topic

The course covers various theories that attempt to explain violence against women in the public and private sphere and strategies to treat female victims of gender violence. It addresses critiques of how gender violence has been measured and conceptualized in the context of the developing world and conflict situations, as well as the problems with the interventions recommended by international agencies to prevent or treat gender violence in these contexts. Throughout we will use case studies from Palestine in order to analyze the application of Western frameworks about gender violence to our context.
