ENPL425 | LANDSCAPE ECOLOGY

Students will be introduced to landscape-ecological concepts; landscape structures, functions and change. They will learn how to measure and quantify landscapes, how to define patches and quantify their characteristics such as size, shape, edge characteristics, pattern, connectedness etc. the ecological and human consequences of landscape processes including fragmentation, connectivity, grain size, etc. The role of landscape ecology in wildlife management The effects of landscape structure on wildlife populations and communities.
