This course provides students with the tools necessary for critical reading of media in English with emphasis on the news in major English newspapers. Mass communication involves use of mass media which include audio, visual, audio-visual tools, and written texts . Concentration in this course will be on journalism and in particular, newspapers, radio, magazines, films, and new media. This focus will help us concentrate on the functions, content, grammatical, lexical, and stylistic characteristics of English for the media.
