Introduction to building construction, basic building materials; their properties, uses and performance in different environments, preparation works of the building site, soil investigation and site preparation, delineation of building line and ground floor level, location the center lines of walls and foundations, excavation works, foundation types and their protection against moisture and underground water, different kinds of walls, floors and roofing systems, staircases and elevators, sheathing and posting of buildings and structures, building with stone, bricks, practical introduction to working drawings through building material symbols and architectural terminology, drawing details for various architectural elements. (Lecture 2 hours, Studio 3 hours)
