DSGN2230 | INTRODUCTION TO DESIGN THEORY

This course introduces students to, principles, and techniques that have shaped practices of visual design. The course will focus on philosophical and practice-based theories associated with modernity; commodity culture; semiotics; visual communication; authorship; subjectivity; disruption and resistance; post-modernism. It will focus on how philosophical schools of thought have shaped and been shaped by the discipline of design. (Two theory hours)
