A study of free radical reactions, conjugation and resonance. Structure and reactions of benzene and dienes. Physicochemical properties, preparation and reactions of aromatic compounds, aldehydes, ketones, amines and carboxylic acids and their derivatives. The chemistry of phenols, aryl halides, polymers and heterocycles. Reaction mechanisms and their use in the synthesis of various compounds. (Lecture 4 hours).
