BZU Library
A library can be considered a store – house of knowledge. In dictionaries the word “library” has been defined as “a building or room containing a collection of books”. A library renders a great service to the society. Libraries play a very important role in promoting the progress of knowledge.
The libraries at Birzeit University are leaders in imagining, creating, and realizing the promise of the 21st century academic research library. Its mission to advance discovery and connect people with knowledge remains constant. Recognizing the unprecedented technological developments, rapid evolution of knowledge, new tools and books are always available to enable the university's community to meet the changing scholarly and learning needs and find efficiencies.
Birzeit University’s Main Library (Yusuf Ahmed Alghanim Library) was established in 1924, evolving from what was then a school library into a university library at the former BZU campus. In 1985, the library moved to a new building donated by Alghanim Industries in Kuwait and was named the "Yusuf Ahmed Alghanim Library."
The Main Library coordinates and cooperates with its branches; which include:
- The Institute of Law library
- The Center for Development Studies library
- The Institute of Women's Studies library.
