Born in 1925 in Jerusalem, Walid Al-Khalidi graduated from Oxford University in 1951 and lectured in political studies at the American University in Beirut, and was a researcher at the Harvard Center for International Affairs. Khalidi also taught at Princeton University and Oxford University. Khalidi is one of the founders of the Royal Scientific Society in Amman, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The Palestinian historian was one of the founders of the Institute for Palestine Studies.
