The late Sami Sayrafi, who passed away in 2015, has served as the chair of Birzeit University’s Department of Chemistry, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, and the Dean of Graduate Studies. He was the vice-president for Administrative and Financial Affairs at Birzeit University in 2010.
