Mr. Bassim Khoury

Mr. Khouri is member of the Administrative Committee of the Board of Trustees. He graduated from Friends School in Ramallah and studied pharmacy at the University of Oklahoma. He is a member of Board of Trustees of the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music; of the Board of Directors of both the Palestine Capital Market Authority and the Palestine Deposit Insurance Corporation; and on the Board of Trustees of the Society of St. Yves Catholic Center for Human Rights. Mr. Khouri established the Pharma pharmaceutical factory in 1985, of which he is Chairman and CEO. He founded the Palestine Insurance Company (PIC) in 1996, the National Company for Agro-Industries in 2007, and Pharmacare Premium in Malta in 2009. Mr. Khouri was awarded an order of merit from the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre in recognition of services offered to the needy in 2002 and in honor of his charity. He served on the technical committee for trade and industry in the peace negotiations between 1990 and 1994. He was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian Pharmaceutical Association and Chairman of the Scientific Committee between 1992 and 1994. He was also elected President of the Union of Palestinian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers between 2001 and 2004. He was twice elected President of the Palestinian Federation of Industries (PFI) in 2006 and 2009. In 2009, he assumed the post of Minister of National Economy.
