The External Academic Relations office is pleased to announce the funded CISPA Helmholtz PhD Program at the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security in Germany.
About CISPA:
CISPA is a national science institution within the Helmholtz Association, located in Saarbrücken, Germany. It offers a world-class interdisciplinary research environment in collaboration with top institutions like Saarland University, the Max Planck Institutes, and DFKI. The center hosts researchers from over 40 nationalities and is dedicated to advancing cybersecurity, privacy, and digital trust.

Period or starting date: Fall 2025 (flexible start, based on admission)

- Cybersecurity, Privacy and Cryptography
- Machine Learning and Data Science
- Efficient Algorithms and Theoretical Computer Science

Funding:
The scholarship includes:
- Full-time employment contract under the German TVöD system (up to E13 level)
- Starting salary around €4,000/month (gross)
- Health insurance, pension plan, and 30 days of paid leave per year

Conditions:
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a research-oriented university in a relevant field.
- Strong academic record and recommendation letters are required.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of German is not required.
