Call for Project Proposals to Receive Funding with Potential of Ownership in a Startup Company

Do you have a great idea in your field of study? We are looking for highly motivated individuals with creative minds that want to see their unique ideas turned into a business.

Funds are Available for four projects, each project will be awarded: Twenty Five Thousand Dollars (US$25,000)

Intended groups: Two to three undergraduate and/or graduate students from the faculties of:

  • Engineering and technology
  • Pharmacy, Nursing and Medical service
  • Science

To apply: Students should complete the business plan (attached) and each proposal should have a project and company name.

Evaluation process: Received proposal would be evaluated by a committee of researchers and specialists. Short listed candidates will be invited to pitch their ideas in front of the committee.

Duration of the project: 4-6 months

Funding: US$25000 for each project including but not limited to travel expense, material cost, purchase of memberships, software, and data.

The patent or commercial rights would give the team 78%, (this would be further agreed upon once the approval of funding) ownership of the commercial or patent, the Investor 17%, and 5% to Birzeit University.

Please submit a hard copy and soft copy of the application form to your department chair by December 20, 2017 which will be sent the office of vice president for academic affairs, please put “Application for incubation project” in the subject of the email.
