Lancet Palestinian Health Alliance
(LPHA)

October 8-9 2012

In preparation for the upcoming Lancet
Palestinian Health Alliance (LPHA) Third Conference, scheduled to take place
18-19 March 2013, the Institute of Community and Public Health (ICPH) is
pleased to announce its call for the first of two capacity building
workshops in abstract writing.

The workshops will focus on abstract writing
methods specifically geared towards the style of the international medical and
public health journal, the Lancet.

The first workshop is scheduled to take place
8-9 October 2012, and aims to assist individuals in preparing their
abstracts in response to the LPHA Third Conference Call for Abstracts.

The first workshop will be held at
ICPH, Birzeit University, Said Khoury Development Studies Building, 1st
floor.

Upon completion of the first workshop,
participants will be required to make the necessary modifications and
adjustments to their abstracts. The resulting abstract will then be presented
by participants and commented on in a follow-up workshop tentatively scheduled
to take place in mid-November.

The exact time and venue of the
second workshop will be announced in due course.

Individuals wishing to participate in the
capacity building workshops in abstract writing should submit

1.
A participation request letter/email.

2.
 An English Language preliminary abstract
related to their research. Abstracts should be between 250 and 500 words in
length, and written in English.

Selection of workshop participants is competitive.

Applicants may send an abstract for a study
not yet finalized. However, such submissions must include results by
November 2012.

Please note that selected participants are
required to read all workshop material which will be sent to participants prior
to the first workshop of 8-9 October 2012.

The deadline for applying for the workshops
is 27 September 2012.
