Birzeit University leads nationally in 2021-2022 URAP ranking
For the third consecutive year, Birzeit University has been ranked as the top higher education institution in Palestine according to the 2021-2022 University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), published by the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey.
Regionally, the university ranks 57th among 143 Arab universities, and it secured the 1,453rd position among a total of 3,002 higher-education institutions included in the ranking.
The URAP ranking takes into consideration both the quality and quantity of academic publications. Scientists and experts at the URAP Research Laboratory collect data on the highest publishing educational institutions using InCite and the Web of Science citation database, both of which provide comprehensive statistics and information on the research productivity and impact of universities worldwide.
The ranking is based on six indicators that assess the academic prowess, quality of research and overall knowledge-production efforts of higher-education institutions: research productivity, citations received by faculty members, the total number of documents published which contribute to scientific progress, research productivity compared to other international institutions, citations received compared to other international institutions, and international research collaboration efforts.
The 2021-2022 URAP results reflect Birzeit University’s tireless efforts to remain a beacon of scholarship and excellence in teaching and learning in Palestine, working to strengthen sciences and the arts and advance communities locally, regionally, and internationally.
