Administrators explore cooperation with international universities during higher education summit

Khalid Swaileh, Birzeit University’s vice president for academic affairs, and Amir Khalil, director of the External Academic Relations Office, participated in the Eurasia Higher Education Summit (EURIE), held in Turkey from February 19 to 21, 2020.

The annual summit aims to enhance cooperation between higher education institutions that are members of EURIE. This year’s conference featured an exhibition, workshops, and panel presentations to enhance knowledge, expand networks, and increase partnership opportunities for the participants.

Themes discussed during the event focused on the globalization and internationalization of higher education, the internationalization of universities, student exchange programs, research cooperation, digitalization and innovation, and the development of competencies that enhance global employability.

Swaileh and Khalil explored the potential for cooperation opportunities with Turkish and other international universities that would provide Birzeit University students with the opportunity to study a semester abroad within exchange mobility programs such as Mevlana and ERASMUS+.
