University community rallies against Israeli violations, nationality law

Birzeit University’s community - students, professors, and administrative staff - protested the Israeli Occupation’s violations against Khan al-Ahmar and the recently-adopted Nation-State Bill, on October 2, 2018.

The community stood against the Israeli actions against Khan al-Ahmar, a Palestinian village whose population is facing expulsion by Israeli authorities under the pretense of having no building permits – while the authorities refuse to grant any themselves – and denounced the Israeli nationality law, which among other things denies Palestinian refugees the right to return and calls for ramping up settlement building.

As part of a general strike protesting the Israeli nationality law, Birzeit University closed its campus yesterday, October 1, along with virtually all institutions in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and the 1948 occupied territories.
