Birziet University opened its doors to twenty international volunteers who will participate in its annual International Summer Camp. The participants come from the United States, Italy, England and Spain, in addition to students from Birzeit University.

The two-week camp will include variety of activities, such as lectures, workshops, and visits to Palestinian cities, villages, and refugee camps. The camp will also provide the opportunity for internationals to engage with Palestinian heritage and culture.

The International Summer Camp 2018 was inaugurated with the attendance of External Academic Relations Officer Dr. Amir Khalil, Acting Dean of the Deanship of Student Affairs Fadel Al Khaldi, and Cooperative Work Program Coordinator Ghada Omari.

Khalil welcomed the volunteers and assured them that the camp provides an opportunity for cultural exchange and allows people from all across the globe to learn about the challenges that the Palestinians face under occupation, as well as reinforces the core Palestinian values of caring, respect, peace, and respect for others.

Khaldi said that the camp is a unique experience for the university’s community and the volunteers. “The camps aims to engage locals and internationals in a comprehensive experience that seeks to strengthen the spirit of voluntary and interactive work.”
