Old car affords engineering students new skills and knowledge

Trust International Insurance has donated a car to the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at Birzeit University on March 1, 2018. The car will be used by students and professors of the department for practical training.

The handover ceremony was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr. Khaled Abaza, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Chair Dr. Sameh Abu Awad, and a number of Engineering and Technology faculty members, as well as Trust Insurance Administrative Affairs Director Ibrahim Hashayka and Public Relations Director Rawiyah Badwan.

Abu Awad, expressing his gratitude to Trust Insurance, noted the importance of having a test car in the hands of the students. “This car will help us deliver on our vision of engaging the students in a rich, interactive learning environment which will instill the skills and knowledge needed for them to excel in the job market.”

Hashayka and Badwan also highlighted the importance of the car as a catalyst for students and faculty members to creatively fuse theory with praxis, adding that the donation is part of Trust Insurance’s social responsibility toward Palestine and its educational institutions.
