Hungarian Ambassador, BZU President discuss academic cooperation

President of Birzeit University Dr. Abdullatif Abuhijleh explored possible channels of cooperation with Head of the Representative Office of Hungary in Ramallah Dr. Csaba Rada in a meeting held on January 22, 2018.

In the meeting, which was attended by Director of the Office of External Relations at Birzeit University Dr. Amir Khalil and Assistant to the Director of the Public Relations Office Tina Rafidi, Dr. Abuhijleh and Dr. Rada discussed academic cooperation between Birzeit University and the Hungarian Representative Office, and scholarships offered by the Hungarian government to the students and faculty of the university.

Dr. Abuhijleh gave a brief overview of Birzeit University’s history, faculties, and the academic programs that it offers. “Birzeit University strives to create an environment that encourages innovation and creativity in all aspects of life. To that end, we’ve recently launched Masari, [My Career Path] a program which aims to build leadership capacities and develop a sense of entrepreneurship and creativity in the students, as well as to increase their active engagement with their community,” he said.

“The university also believes in the combination of great minds and innovative technology,” added Dr. Abuhujleh, “which we believe culminates in the India-Palestine Techno Park, which recently had its cornerstone set. The park will provide a space for exploration and innovation through its innovation center and research and development center, and it will incentivize entrepreneurship by connecting fledging technological startups with investors and experts.”

Dr. Abuhijleh and Dr. Rada agreed to increase cooperation and academic relations through future info sessions, lectures by visiting scholars, and scholarship opportunities
