Media Development Center concludes investigative journalism course

The Media Development Center at Birzeit University concluded a five-day training course entitled “Investigative Journalism.” The course, in which ten investigative journalists from local media organizations participated, is part of a project implemented in cooperation with The Danish House in Palestine and International Media Support (IMS).

The project aims to build the capacities of Palestinian journalists in investigative journalism methodology and analytical story publishing by organizing three specialized training courses on investigative journalism.

The first course in the series, which was supervised by Danish radio host Kurt Strand; investigative journalist and Danwatch Editor in Chief Louise Voller; and IMS Media Adviser Henrik Grunnet, aimed to enhance the participants’ skills in data collection, information search, and interview techniques.

The project is set to hold its second course, which will cover storytelling on various media platforms – including digital platforms – in April, and its third and final course in July.

“This project will include a mix of capacity building and production, and it aims to build a culture of investigation in newsrooms,” said Project Coordinator at the Media Development Center Yasmine Misk, adding that participants are expected to produce their investigative stories by the end of the project in July.
