Media Alumni Share Their Experiences in Workshop

“This is live exercise for our students and a tribute to their excellence and hard work,” said the Chairperson of the Media Department at Birzeit University Jumane Qunnaisse about Birzeit Online on December 6, 2017 during an interactive workshop held by the Media Department.

The workshop – entirely organized by the Public Relations course students – hosted prominent department alumni and introduced the Birzeit Online website, a platform that hosts student-generated media content. Students are encouraged to write, photograph, and document any story or news report that they see worthy.

Qunnaisse added that this website provides an opportunity for up-and-coming writers of all majors to practice their skills and reach a wide audience of readers and followers. “Currently, Birzeit Online enjoys a strong readership in the university – nearly 45% of the students follow Birzeit Online – however, we’re pushing for even more readership and more content. And this is not limited to Birzeit’s students only, we’re going to cooperate with students from Gaza and those in the diaspora in the future.”

Khalil Jadallah, a sports commentator at Palestine Sports TV; Mohammad Abu Al-Rob, a professor at the Media Department; and Zeina Sandouka, journalist and TV host at Roya TV then took to the stage to share their experiences both in and out of college, and to provide students in the audience guidance and advice about future job prospects and life after graduation.
