BZU Media Center Posts Video Lectures on Media and Law

The Media Development Center at Birzeit University posted video lectures by 12 Palestinian media professors online on October 28, as part of the “Media and Law” course, which was recently created by the center and incorporated into the academic programs of many departments and colleges.

The lectures, in which eight universities and two colleges participated, were produced as part of an interactive workshop organized by the center last August, part of the Media Development Initiative, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The workshop aimed to create an innovative space where academics can exchange the best ideas and practices in teaching and instruction.

The lectures included “The Concept of the Law and Legal Basis”, by Salah Abu Al-Hasan from the University of Hebron; “Media Liberties in International Charters,” by Alaa’ Bani Fadel from Al-Najah University; “The Statute of the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate,” by Nibal Thawabteh from Birzeit University; and “Cybercrimes,” by Jumane Qunnaisse, from Birzeit University.

The Media Research and Policy Unit Coordinator at the Media Development Center, Saleh Masharqeh, noted that the project will continue for the next few years and with the same vigor and cooperation between academics and journalists. He said, “We will continue producing model-lectures for instructors and students alike. These lectures will include theoretical as well as interactive materials that incorporate contemporary instruction methods.”
