Slovenian Ministry of Education explores cooperation with BZU

The Minister of Education, Science and Sport in Slovenia Mateja Markovec Brencic met recently with Birzeit University President Abdullatif Abuhijleh to explore areas where the two parties might cooperate.

The Vice President of Academic Affairs Henry Giacaman and the Director of the External Academic Relations Office Amir Khalil attended the meeting. In addition to the the Minister of Education, Science and Sport, and the Head of the Representative Office of the Republic of Slovenia in Palestine Milko Dolinsek.

Mateja expressed Slovenia’s interest in cooperating with Birzeit University in two main parts: students and professors exchange and researches. She pointed out that the Ministry aims to make Slovenia a model state that offers accessible and open educational resources.

Abuhijleh reaffirmed the university’s mission to strengthen its cooperation with different countries from across the globe. He underscored the importance of exchanging academic knowledge and exploring different cultures to build skilled and educated generations.

The Palestinian and Arab Studies Program, and the program of international studies were among the areas of cooperation suggested by the University.
