President of FIFA, Joseph Blatter, meets with students of the diploma program in sports management at the Center for Continuing Education - BZU

On 16 May 2011, the President of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Joseph Blatter, met with students of the diploma program in sports management at the Center for Continuing Education - BZU in Ramallah. The meeting was attended by  the Vice President for Community Affairs, Dr. Mounir Gazzaz, President of the Palestinian Football Federation (PFF), Jibreel Rjoub, and the Director of the Center for Continuing Education, Mr. Marwan Tarazi.
Dr. Qazzaz welcomed  Blatter and expressed his pride of the sports management program at BZU and  its role in community development, in terms of laying  the foundations of Palestinian sports.

On the other hand, Blatter said that FIFA's partnership with PFA started since two years, and FIFA has been playing a leading role in supporting the Palestinian sports sector. He added that football is more than a game or kicking a ball, it is a movement of over 300 million members, and with their families, it amounts to one billion people. He overviewed FIFA, in terms of academic, economic, cultural, social and political aspects, since it connects people across the borders.

 

Mr. Rjoub considered PFA as the core of the sports sector, and thanked FIFA for their support and interest in the Palestinian football players.

Mr. Tarazi emphasized the importance of building a cadre of qualified sports teachers in Palestine, and the role played by the sports management program at the CCE.

Dr. Qazzaz presented plaques for Mr. Joseph Blatter and Mr. Jibreel Rjoub, followed by  an open discussion in which the students have participated.
