Alumni Flock to Career Fair 2017 on Campus

Birzeit University Career Day got under way on May 16, 2017, featuring new career zones and internship opportunities. Organized under the support of Palestine Telecommunications Company, PALTEL Company, the Career Week aimed at offering job opportunities and internships for Birzeit University’s alumni and graduates.

Birzeit University President Abdullatif Abuhijleh said that the university is committed to link its graduates with employers in a variety of industries and enterprises. Such events, according to Abdellatif, intend to maximize career potential and opportunities for our graduates through powerful networks, meaningful exploration and transformative experiences.”

Abuhijleh pointed out the university has recently inaugurated a platform that connects Birzeit University students, graduates and alumni with the labor market. The platform “Masari” is a career management system where firms can meet with students where they can find job and internship opportunities.

The Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics Grace Khoury assured that such events provide an excellent opportunity of direct communication with job seekers. “At Birzeit University, students grow personally and professionally during their time on campus. The University have a concrete basis for training and employing our graduates. We established the Career Services Unit, inaugurated Masari: career path and trajectory, and finally “Student Leadership and Active Citizenship Program”, a learning journey for Birzeit University students”.

Sales Director at Paltel Group Luay Abu Shkhaidem emphasized the importance of creating employment opportunities for Palestinian youth. “To tackle youth employment challenges, PALTEL Company puts in place a range of initiatives and programs. We are also keen to invest in the younger generations as they are the key engine of our growth in PALTEL and a key to build a vibrant economy in Palestine.”  

A wide variety of employers attended the Career Fair, ranging from government and nonprofit employers. The organizations provided information to Birzeit University students about their companies and organizations, and collected the students’ resumes for present or future openings.
