National Cultural Day send-off held at Birzeit University

On the stage of Nasib Aziz Shahin Auditorium, Birzeit University hosted on March 31, 2017 the National Cultural Day closing ceremonies organized by the Ministry of Culture. The ceremony closed a series of events that took place during the preceding week in the West Bank, Gaza and Israel, under the theme "Culture and Resistance."

University president Abdullatif Abuhijleh expressed his pride that the university was participating in this important activity reminding Palestinians of their history, identity, and culture.

Minister of Culture Ehab Bseiso told the audience that Palestinian culture can make a contribution to unity, and is a factor that will enable Palestinians to overcome the political challenges being imposed by the Israeli occupation. He referred to the 72 cultural events that took place during the week all over Palestine, focusing on lands threatened with confiscation or destruction and other marginalized areas.

During the closing ceremony, a number of Palestinians representing areas that are resisting settlements and the Israeli's apartheid regime were honored by Bseiso, Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission head Mohammad Assaf, Fatah Central Committee member Rafat Saleh, Ministry of Information undersecretary Mahmoud Khalifa, and President Abuhijleh.
