Center of Continuing Education, UNICEF to develop school curricula

The Center of Continuing Education in Birzeit University, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) will work together to empower the elementary school curricula by developing the components of the National Learning Objects Bank.

The National Learning Objects Banks is an innovative, effective and affordable model in educational reform that will mainstream modern educational paradigms into the existing educational system and produce learning outcomes needed by our children to meet challenges and capitalize on the opportunities of the 21st century.

The project will be implemented in different phases, engaging educational specialists from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and adding rich courses that combine theory with lessons from the student’s daily life. The learning objects that are developed will be available for teachers at the beginning of the next academic year.

Osama Mimi said that this project is part of the center’s continuous efforts to improve the quality of learning and teaching in the Palestinian educational system. “Through this National Bank that was started years ago, we have been able to accomplish experimental and practical research and form a team of experts who are able to produce creatively learning objects in adherence with the Palestinian context, therefore developing our Palestinian curricula.”
