Orientalism book frontrunner among 2016 publications

The book “Edward Said wa-Naqd Tanasukh al-Istishraq” by Birzeit University media professor Walid Al Shurafa tops the Arab and World Books list for 2016, according to Asharq Al-Arabic for Cultural and Strategic Studies in London.

The book, published in 2016, is a critique of orientalist transmigration: the speech, the other, the image. It examines the dissertations of Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, and the contemporary school of constructivism.

The book has been authorized as an official reference for the Orientalism and Cultural Studies courses at Birzeit and Al-Quds universities.
