Birzeit University, Aman to Educate Students to Combat Corruption

Integrity and transparency in higher education are the main focus of a new agreement between the Faculty of Law and Public Administration in Birzeit University and the Coalition for Accountability and Integrity (AMAN.

The agreement was signed on January 23, 2017 by the Dean of the Faculty Yasser Amouri, and head of the Board of Directors at AMAN Abdel Kader Husseini. The parties agreed to exchange expertise and engage in joint research activities and seminars to enhance the knowledge of students about the best practices of enhancing transparency and integrity in their work.

The parties believe that efforts to combat corruption will not succeed without the full involvement of younger generations, which will contribute to Palestinian development.

Husseini underscored AMAN’s role in supporting academic institutions in combating corruption, pointing out that this agreement will create a platform for academics and students to explore ways to combat corruption in Palestine.

Amouri said that this agreement aims to promote transparency and accountability among students, referencing the university’s activities, processes, and policies in key areas of higher education governance, including academia and research.
