BZU and Argentina to encourage research in “Edward Said” studies

The Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Argentina Husni Abdel Wahed, and Palestine’s representative to Latin America and the Caribbean Hanan Jarrar met on January 18, 2016 with the Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Henry Giacman, and the Director of External Academic Relations Office Dr. Amir Khalil, to explore areas where the two parties might cooperate.

The parties agreed to achieve researches and development projects to encourage Edward Said studies. Birzeit University and Argentina representatives also discussed the prospects of students and faculty exchange, and teaching Arabic language for Argentinian students at the Palestine and Arab Studies Program (PAS).

Giacman pointed out that this cooperation will be a unique and positive opportunity that will make  it possible for our students to derive the maximum benefit from the quality and expertise that the university will gain through engaging with other universities that have similar programs.

Khalil emphasized on the university’s commitment to expand the use of its resources to enhance interdisciplinary professional academic and research experiences, through fostering greater international exposure for students, faculty and staff.
