Language Faculty Shines in France

Faculty members with the Department of French Language have made some outstanding academic contributions recently.

 

Speaking at the invitation of the Department of Modern Literatures at Paul Valéry University, Montpellier III in France, Professor and Assistant to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts Basma El Omari presented two lectures entitled “Reality and Fiction in Prisoner of Love of Jean Genet,” and “Language Policy of Teaching French in Palestine.”  During her visit, El Omari also discussed prospects for academic cooperation between Birzeit and Paul Valéry University.

 

Chairperson of the Department of French Language Muna Ibayyeh participated in and successfully completed 89 workshops on languages, modern methods of teaching, and academic assessment and was as a result awarded the French Language Expert certificate at the Cavilam Language School in France.

 

French instructor Dima Bamyeh took part in a workshop on teaching French as a foreign language at Louvain la Neuve University in Belgium. The training course tackled the issues of modern teaching and education. Bamyeh also participated in the World Congress of French teachers in Liège- France.
