University, Hungary Discuss Academic Cooperation

Birzeit University President Abdulatif Abu Hijleh received on June 21, 2016 the head of the Representative Office of Hungary in Ramallah, Géza Mihályi. The meeting was attended by Vice President for Academic Affairs Henry Giacaman and director of the Office of Grants and Contracts Dolly Kaibni. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in social science and international studies with the Cornivus University of Budapest. Abu Hijleh said that Birzeit University has always approached international cooperation positively and seeks to extend the scope of its collaboration with Hungary in the fields of social sciences research, advancing academia, and creating exchange opportunities. Abu Hijleh described the chance to cooperate with Cornivus University as an “excellent opportunity to explore each other’s activities in more details and find other mutual points of interest.” Mihályi emphasized that knowledge in social sciences is necessary in order to resolve and deal with major contemporary problems pertaining to different disciplines. He said that the cooperation the Government of Hungary is seeking is focused on research, exchange and academia.
