"معنى النكبة" للمؤرخ القومي قسطنطينزريق، كان اول كتاب عربي حاول فهم النكبة وتحليل اسبابها والتي رأى أنها لا ت
عالج إلا من خلال العقلانية والعلم والوحدة على أسس حضارية. ومنذ ذلك الحين صد
رت عشرات الكتب ( بل قل مئات الكتب وألاف الأبحاث) عن هذا الحدث المركزي الذي
دمر إلى حد كبير نسيج وكيان مجتمع، اختفى بلده وأفراده من الخرائط والمعاجم. ه
ول الحدث جعله عنصر التكوين الرئيسي في الهوية الفلسطينية بل وإلى حد ما العرب
ية.
و مع ذلك فإن النكبة تحتاج إلى زيارة ومراجعة وإعادة قراءة. في البداية
المصطلح القاصر والمبتور. وثانيا الدروس والعبر. وثالثاً تفكيك الرواية الصهيو
نية التي نجحت احياناً في اختراق الرواية العربية والفلسطينية المتشظية، تشظي
هذا المجتمع. هذه المحاضرة هي محاولة من د. صالح عبد الجواد -الذي كرس حياته ل
دراسة هذا الحدث- لتحقيق هذا الهدف.

The Me
aning of al-Nakba, a book written (in Arabic) by the nationalist historianConstantine Zuraik, was the first concerted attempt to understand the Nak
ba and to analyze its causes; Zuraik stated that catastrophe could only beundone through rational decisions, education and unity, all of a civiliz
ed nature. Since then, hundreds of books and thousands of research papers
have appeared regarding that central event, which destroyed a great deal o
f the fabric of a society, the country and a people whose name disappearedfrom maps and dictionaries. The enormity of the event made it a major comp
onent in the Palestinian and Arab identity.
The Nakba needs, however, tobe revisited, given its inadequate conceptualization and the insufficientunderstanding of lessons, as well as the dismantling of the Zionist narra
tive that has succeeded in penetrating the fragmented Palestinian and Arab
one. This lecture is an attempt by Dr. Saleh Abdul Jawwad who dedicated hislife to studying this event, to achieve that goal.
