Abstract:

Proofs of Space (PoS) were suggested as a more sustainable alternative to Proofs of Work for Blockchains, and Chia Network (https://www.chia.net/) is newly launched promising cryptocurrency that uses PoS as its mining resource. In this talk, I will introduce the concept of PoS and give a simple construction that is the basis of the PoS in Chia.

Bio:

Hamza Abusalah is a cryptographer with a PhD degree from the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (https://ist.ac.at/en/home/). He did his bachelor’s degree in computer systems engineering at BZU and his master’s degree in software systems engineering at RWTH Aachen, Germany. He worked as a senior researcher in the industry and currently holds a Postdoc position at the Technical University of Vienna (TUW) where he works on cryptography and Blockchains
