Quality Assurance Unit Participates in the Workshop on Quality Assurance in Higher Education at Arab Universities
Organized by the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Council at the Association of Arab Universities, the Quality Assurance Unit at BZU attended the workshop on "Quality Assurance in Higher Education at Arab Universities: Mechanisms for Internal and External Assessment", held in Jordan during 22-24 November 2008. The workshop was attended by representatives of Quality Assurance Units at Arab universities and national accreditation authorities.
The workshop aimed at defining the "Quality Concept Development Phases', introducing the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Council at the General Secretariat-Association of Arab Universities, as well as presenting the experiences of some of the Arab universities and the accreditation authorities in the Arab world and other specialized international institutions.
The workshop included practical applications on how to achieve quality in higher education, in addition to discussing the mechanisms of internal and external assessment and the measuring tools and indicators for university performance, adopted by the "Quality Assurance Manual" and the "Guide for Internal and External Assessment and Arab Universities General Accreditation".
The workshop addressed three themes: the 1st focused on the development of the quality concept, the 2nd reviewed some experiences vis-à-vis the topic and the 3rd discussed the mechanisms and tools for the enhancement of quality in university performance.
