BZU Signs a Virtual Lab Purchasing Contract at the Faculty of Engineering

Represented By Dr. Sami Al-Sayrafi, BZU signed a contract with the Representative of the Technical Engineering Appliances Ltd. in Bireh, Mr. Munther Jubran on 1 July 2009, regarding the purchasing of a virtual laboratory, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Faysal Awadallah, General Manger of the project, Ms. Anisa Jubran and Mr. Tawfiq Al-Tamimi, Head of the Procurement Unit at the University.

It should be noted that this project is hosted, organized and supervised  by the Faculty of Engineering at BZU, financed by the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF)), which is implemented by the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education and supported by the World Bank and the European Commission (EC), and is worth ($ 346,850).

It is useful to recall, that the project started with the 1st workshop in December 2007, in which a number of faculty members specializing in the fields of engineering, archeology, information technology and geography from BZU and other local Palestinian universities have participated. The 2nd workshop was conducted in April 2008, which included a number of meetings prepared by the groups of participants in the project, addressing different topics in the use of technology in virtual education and geographic information systems. The 3rd workshop was held in July 2008. Dr. Ramzi Hassan from the University of Life Sciences in Norway (ULI) contributed to the project by chairing the sessions of these workshops in which he presented many examples of the uses of virtual technology.

The project is currently supervised by the General Manager of the project at BZU and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Faysal Awadallah, Director of the Master Program in Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Hadi, as well as the Technical Director at the ULI, Dr. Ramzi Hassan. It is expected that a special room will be prepared and used for this purpose during the next academic year 2009/2010.
