General Services Department

Overview
The General Services Department (GSD) was established during the academic year of 1978-79, aiming to support services and personnel affairs. The staff provides services to over 13 buildings and a total of almost 100,000 square meters of space.

The department considers the University’s 8000 students and nearly 700 faculty members and staff to be it's customers, and thus strives to provide them with the best service possible.

GSD's services and facilities include:

- Food services
- Recycling pick up
- Housing facilities & services (Dormitories, faculty and staff apartments
- Security and safety service
- Bookstore service
- Mail services (mail pick-up and delivery)
- Printing services
- Switchboard and information service
- Hospitality service
- Vehicles and transport service
- Car parking
- Buildings service
- Room booking service
- Special events and activities set-ups (Conference, Graduation, Ceremonies, Students activities … etc).

- ID card service
- Lecture room service
- Carpentry service
- Furniture production and repair service
- Locksmith service
- Moving and distribution service
- Maintaining fire extinguishers and alarms systems
- Bulletin boards

Mission 
The GSD is dedicated to maintaining an environment that is conducive to learning, teaching and working for Birzeit University community.
